Flight Free UK is a national campaign that asks individuals to take a flight free year.
I've taken the pledge for 2021, and have so far not flown for 22 months. Could you take a flight free year?
"We are in a climate emergency yet we continue to live our lives as usual. Why don't we act? It's not because we don't care, it's because we tend to act like those around us. If lots of people take a flight free year, many more will follow. Could you take a flight free year?"
By taking a visible stand, and adopting a simple lifestyle change like not flying, I hope that our leaders can recognise why we have done this. Governments are not doing enough. If more and more people come on board and take the pledge as individuals, this could spark a collective behaviour change across the country, and the world, that will cause policy makers to take notice and take action.
I hope that many others are inspired by this campaign, that I am so proud to be a part of, and respond by looking at their personal carbon footprints and seeing what choices they could realistically make to their own lives, to live a less carbon intensive lifestyle.
If you can make any decision, not flying is one that will have a huge impact for the climate, and you'll be helping to keep the world rich in nature, full of life and healthier for people all over the world.
Through this campaign, we can join together with people all over the world to fight for a cleaner, happier planet, with better working systems, sustainble management, responsible and ethical business policy, a more just society and a cleaner world in which nature can thrive.
If we take care of nature, nature will take care of us. We are nature.
